This year’s swim team is going to be a little different from previous years. Due to COVID 19, most of the pools in this area are closed right now. Please be patient with us as we navigate this unusual time. Hopefully, the pools will open up in January and we will be able to resume a normal practice and meet schedule. In the meantime, we will work with our strength and conditioning coach as well as participate in dry land training to prepare for the season/ meets. Once our meet schedule is finalized, I will share it with the team and parents ASAP.
Our coaching staff will follow the COVID 19 protocols and procedures set forth by the school as well as those imposed by the aquatic facilities for meets and practices.
All athletes must have the required paperwork on file in order to participate in swim team. Students will be given the paperwork by the coaching staff, but links have been posted in case you need access to it. This includes the list below.
- GHSA pre-participation physical (link to the physical form)
- Insurance/ waiver form (link to the insurance/ waiver form)
- Signature page from the swim handbook. (link to the swim team handbook)
Communication– very important information
The swim team uses remind messages to communicate announcements, schedule changes, etc. to athletes and parents. It is important that you sign up for these messages to stay up to date with everything. To join the swim team’s remind account, please text the message @lcswim20 to the number 81010. This account is different from last year’s account. The old account has been archived and is no longer active.
The coaching staff will also post announcement, schedule changes, important documents, etc. to the swim team page on lamarcountyathletics.com . Normally, announcements will be posted to the website and a remind message will be sent out to check the website.
Swimmers need to have appropriate practice and competition attire. This is spelled out in the swim team handbook. When picking out a swim suit keep a couple things in mind. First, males should wear jammers and females wear on piece competition suits. I will speak to the team about this once practice/ conditioning begins.
